Feeling stuck?
Get moving. Everything else will sort itself out.
Welcome! If you’re reading this but haven’t subscribed you can do here:
Made to move
We’re made to move.
The human body is built to spend the days roaming and foraging, not slouched in a chair. Yet here we are.
I’m starting here because it’s important. Motion is vital everywhere. But you’ll have an easier time elsewhere if you start with your body.
Let’s take the simple act of walking. It can be life changing.
Walking stimulates the lymphatic system. Which, simply put, is our internal sewage system. It’s in motion that our body cleans itself.
Spend 8 hours at a desk and muck accumulates.
Humble walking also has stress reducing and cognitive benefits. The brain comes alive. Want proof? Go for a stroll and see what happens.
If that wasn’t enough walking also helps us sleep. Better sleep then leads to more motion the next day, which in turn leads to better sleep. A virtuous cycle.
Learning
Movement is essential to our bodies but when it comes to our lives it has another benefit: Learning.
So often the way forward isn’t clear. We become frozen in inactivity. We can research and endlessly analyse, sure, but it’s getting moving from which we really learn.
That agonising choice keeping you up at night? Decide. Just do something.
The irony is that worrying about such choices is often more damaging than either choice would be. The stakes are not as high and you think. And oh my do we underestimate the cost of worry!
Perhaps a controversial opinion:
We suffer far more from worrying about what might happen than from what actually happens. It’s not simple events that effect our lives, it’s how we react to them. And worry and inactivity breed worry and inactivity.
Start
So that’s it.
Just do something. Make the call, have the conversation, get started. That’s the hardest bit out of the way.
That’s the other great thing about movement: Once you’ve started it gets easier.
Imagine you plan an early morning run in the middle of winter. What’s the hardest bit? Actually getting out the door. That’s where it’s won or lost. Do that and you’re off to the races.
Don’t worry about it being perfect. Don’t worry about being wrong. Don’t worry full stop.
You can course correct later.
But do yourself a favour: Just get moving.
My Week in Books📚
Hard Landing by Thomas Petzinger Jr.
“A colourful tale of robber barons on the loose”
Quite a tale indeed. Airlines post deregulation. More exciting than it sounds, I promise. Airlines are somewhat a kin to cabins but with, perhaps, more robber barons at the helm. Thoroughly enjoyed it & learnt a lot.

A Final Thought 💡
“To me, if life boils down to one thing, it’s movement. To live is to keep moving.”
